Uwaba

Uwaba, translating to “Women’s Union” in Kiswahili, was established in August 2018, with its official inauguration in November 2018. Composed of eleven women exclusively from the Bangata community in rural Arusha, their mission is to support, educate, and collaborate for the betterment of both the community and themselves.

The group’s primary business involves purchasing rice wholesale and retailing it. Under the guidance of a volunteer, they have diversified into poultry farming, selling eggs and occasionally chickens. Their latest venture includes cattle farming, initially starting with one cow and expanding with the support of their coach and personal savings to acquire additional meat cows.

Renowned for their disciplined savings regimen, the women allocate funds for emergencies and future investments in their group enterprises.
