Join us and get involved

Discover the power of volunteering with Wanawake Tunaweza. Join our global community of volunteers who are making a real difference in the lives of women in the Arusha region. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide women’s groups for the duration of our coaching programme, which spans 18 months. Together, we will work to build a joint business that not only benefits the group but also uplifts the wider community.

We are constantly seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers like yourself, who are willing to dedicate a few hours each month to virtually connecting with their assigned group and guiding them through our educational program from the comfort of their homes or offices. Working closely with your group, you’ll assist in developing a customised small business plan that aligns with their strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities. Wanawake Tunaweza will provide teaching materials, but there will be plenty of opportunity for you to leverage your own expertise to enhance your coaching endeavours.

While prior knowledge of accounting, savings & budgeting, business planning, and marketing is advantageous, what truly matters is your drive to empower a small group of women to reach their full potential. With your guidance and support, we can create lasting positive change together.

The remarkable resilience of these women fuels their step-by-step progress in their group business, showcasing strength and dedication.

Our mission: Supporting the economic, legal, and social enablement of women and therefore society as a whole, by supporting the creation of sustainable enterprises.

Why you should join as a volunteer

The Wanawake Tunaweza programme in the Arusha region is overseen by a Project Coordinator and a Community Mobilizer. Both of them possess extensive experience in working with underprivileged women, assisting them in enhancing their socio-economic status and promoting awareness and knowledge of their social and economic rights.

As a volunteer coach, you will be paired with one of our women’s groups for a period of 18 months, with the option to extend to 24 months. During this time, you will conduct online training and coaching sessions with the group every two weeks, each lasting one hour, following our programme’s curriculum.

With preparation included, we estimate a time commitment of approximately 4 to 5 hours per month. Don’t worry – coaching materials will be provided to support you every step of the way. Plus, as a volunteer, you’ll have the flexibility to tailor the program to suit your unique approach.

Your coaching sessions will seamlessly integrate into the women’s groups’ regular weekly meetings, overseen by our dedicated Project Coordinator or Community Mobilizer at each location. They’ll handle technical aspects like internet connectivity and translations, ensuring a smooth and effective experience for all involved.

Each volunteer will serve as a lead mentor to their assigned group, offering guidance based on their expertise and experience. Our curriculum encourages volunteers to share their insights and knowledge, enriching the learning experience for everyone involved.

For those seeking a hands-on experience, volunteers have the option to visit women’s groups in Northern Tanzania at their own expense for face-to-face interaction. During these visits, our team will be by your side to facilitate seamless coordination and program continuity, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing activities.

We’re also committed to collaboration, partnering with other NGOs and INGOs in the Arusha Region to amplify our impact and achieve our shared goals. Together, we can empower women and transform communities. Join us on this inspiring journey with Wanawake Tunaweza!
