Mshikamano

In 2026, Wanawake Tunaweza Tanzania welcomed the Mshikamano group to the programme.

Mshikamano is a group of 11 highly committed women. Several of the members had had a negative experience of being part of a different women’s group. However, rather than giving up, they persevered and joined forces with other women to establish the Mshikamano Group in 2025.

With the support of our Wanawake Tunaweza Tanzania coaches, the women are eager to learn about bookkeeping and business planning. Bookkeeping presents a challenge to all the women on the programme, but our groups demonstrate remarkable dedication to learning. The Mshikamano women have already made good progress in developing this important skill. 

They also demonstrate an aptitude for saving. They started their own joint savings programme before joining Wanawake Tunaweza Tanzania and have been investing in buying rice and sugar in bulk and selling these goods on for a small profit. Meanwhile, the group has taken important steps by signing their constitution and starting to develop a business plan for their joint venture.
