Twiga Women
This resilient group was formed in early 2026 and consists of 11 women from the Sekei neighbourhood of Arusha.
Several members had previously belonged to a different women’s group that disbanded due to internal issues. Now reformed as Twiga Women, the group is excited to be moving forward with a clear mission to support, educate and collaborate for the betterment of themselves, their families and their local community.
Since joining the Wanawake Tunaweza Tanzania programme, the women have signed their constitution, set up a savings book, and joined Tanzania’s electronic wallet system to help them manage their finances. The next step will be to work with their WTT coach on business planning as they prepare to launch their joint business.
The women’s learning from previous experiences is clearly reflected in their constitution, which includes rules of behaviour, as well as what to do if a group member fails to meet the jointly agreed standards.
